How do transport aircraft keep air operations supplied?

Flying a mission needs more than an aircraft. People, fuel, spare parts and equipment must reach the places where they are needed. Planning and moving those supplies is called logistics.

What does air transport do?

Transport aircraft carry people and cargo between locations. Hercules supply runs can involve flight crews, loading and unloading teams, and ground security personnel. A delivery depends on the whole team, not just the flight.

Why use a helicopter?

A Chinook can carry cargo inside its cabin or suspended beneath it. A load hanging below the helicopter is called an underslung load. In Air Defender, follow the SUP instructions for the cargo choices available in the game.

Where does the Hercules fit in the history?

The Hercules served as a transport aircraft in the RAF for decades, flying military operations and humanitarian airlifts. Air Defender’s supply aircraft is labelled Hercules C-130K. The Hercules profile explains the version history; later versions have their own specifications.

Delivering fuel is different from refuelling in flight

In the game, SUP moves fuel as cargo to another airfield. The base can then use that stock for its operations. Air-to-air refuelling passes fuel between aircraft while they are flying. Choose the procedure that matches where the fuel is needed.

Apply the idea in Air Defender

  1. Check what the destination actually needs. Do not send ammunition when the shortage is fuel.
  2. Choose a source with enough supplies and a transport you can use. Its start base and cargo source can be different.
  3. Use the game’s cargo limits to choose a load, then follow the SUP steps.
  4. Allow for collecting, flying and unloading the cargo. Confirm the result using the delivery checks.

Plan deliveries in your game version

Use the version-labelled game guides for cargo slots, delivery times, base stocks and available commands. Real-world transport examples explain the aircraft’s role; the game guides explain how to plan your delivery.
