Set the balance
- Open the Escape menu, then SETTINGS → VOLUME. Drag a slider to the left to make that sound quieter, or to the right to make it louder. Read the percentage at the right of its row to check the new level.
- Check MASTER first: it affects the overall output.
- Adjust VOICE / RADIO for spoken calls. Reduce MUSIC, BACKGROUND HUM or LOCATION SOUNDS if they make the speech difficult to follow.
- Keep ALERTS / SFX audible enough for the cues you rely on.
- Return to the session and listen to a real call. Compare the balance at the listening volume you actually use.
Which control changes which sound?
| Control | Purpose |
|---|---|
| MASTER | Overall sound level. |
| MUSIC | The soundtrack. |
| BACKGROUND HUM | Console or equipment hum. |
| LOCATION SOUNDS | Environmental background sound. |
| ALERTS / SFX | Alert and interface sound effects. |
| VOICE / RADIO | Spoken and radio audio. |
| OTHER CHANNELS | Background radio calls on channels you are not tuned to. Set it to 0% to silence this background layer. |
The reset label needs care
The menu calls its reset button RESET TO 100%. It sets VOICE / RADIO to 70%, OTHER CHANNELS to 50% and the remaining sliders to 100%. Check the balance afterwards and adjust it for comfortable listening.
If a call is still missing
Use the communications guide to check the channel and ASMA messages. A quiet or completed radio exchange is not necessarily a volume fault. Record the expected call, flight and task if the ASMA report and what you hear disagree.
Keep the balance you chose
Slider changes take effect as you adjust them. They are saved after a short delay or when you leave the settings. Use the same menu to change them again. For missing training words, check captions, pause and SKIP DIALOGUE; for a missing aircraft call, check the selected radio channel and ASMA reports.
