How do I use REJOIN to reunite a fighter with its wingman?

REJOIN tries to pair the selected fighter with its previous wingman—the other fighter it was paired with. It uses that remembered partner, not whichever aircraft is closest.

Check the other fighter first

Find both aircraft in ACTIVE OPS and read their current tasks. When REJOIN succeeds, the fighter you selected takes its previous partner’s current mission and target. For example, if that partner is attacking a target, rejoining can put the selected fighter on that engagement too.

Use the control

  1. Left-click the fighter you want to rejoin and check its callsign.
  2. Open AC Control and choose REJOIN, in the row with SHADOW and REFUEL. There is no second click to choose a new partner.
  3. Read ASMA. REJOINING WINGMAN names the selected fighter and the previous wingman it is rejoining.
  4. Check both aircraft’s tasks and movement in ACTIVE OPS and on the map. The message confirms that the pairing was restored; the aircraft may still need to fly back into position.

Using the right-click menu

If ENABLE RIGHT CLICK MENU is on, right-click your fighter and choose REJOIN there instead. Read the resulting message, just as you would from AC Control. The menu closing or a button sound is not, by itself, proof of a successful rejoin.

ASMA messageMeaning and next step
REJOIN NOT NEEDEDThe selected fighter is already paired. The two symbols can be separated on the map while their pairing still exists. Check their tasks and fuel instead of repeatedly pressing REJOIN.
REJOIN FAILED — No previous wingman recordedThe game has no remembered partner for this fighter. REJOIN cannot be used to create a new pair with an arbitrary aircraft.
REJOIN FAILED — Previous wingman not foundThe remembered partner is no longer available to this command. Check the other aircraft’s last task and messages.
REJOIN BLOCKEDThe previous wingman is now paired with another aircraft. This command does not break up that new pair.
REJOINING WINGMANThe pairing has been restored and the selected fighter takes the partner’s current mission and target. Check what that task now is.

What if this happened after loading a save?

In v0.8.16.0, the remembered previous partner used for REJOIN is not saved separately. An aircraft that is already unpaired can therefore have no previous wingman recorded after loading. That message does not necessarily mean you clicked the wrong control. Include the save/load step in a problem report.

Does REJOIN split a flight?

No. It restores a previous pairing. Ordinary fighter tasking can affect the wider group launched together, even when you clicked only one aircraft. Use the tasking guide for new orders and fuel checks if one member is falling behind or returning home.
